This is a potentially unpopular opinion, but the whole concept of New Year’s resolutions just does not resonate with me. No judgement if that’s your jam but let me explain. I’d much rather make some New Year’shabits.
The rebel in me doesn’t like the fact that with resolutions there is an assumption that my life plan is contingent on someone else’s time construct/calendar. Who even came up with that anyway?!
I’m a big fan of leaning into the seasons of life we’re in, despite what the date is. If you feel like you wanna start a new workout routine on a random Wednesday in April, it should be ok for you to feel like you can go for it! Why must we wait around for a new year, new month, or a Monday to do the thing?
I also feel that the typical “New Year, New You” marketing that’s crammed down our throats this time of year is, quite frankly, dangerous.
Especially in the health and wellness industry. If it hasn’t happened to you already, trust me that you are about to be hit with an onslaught of campaigns that will attempt to convince you that you need to make some massive changes, for no other reason than it’s January.
I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Disease (an autoimmune issue affecting the thyroid and hormone system). In addition to hair loss and breakage, I’ve been experiencing night sweats, fatigue, low libido, brain fog, loss of appetite, and anxiety. Couple that with this little global pandemic we have going on and my stress has been through the roof. It’s been a great time!
I have begun working with an amazing functional medicine practioner to heal the hormone imbalance and work to reverse the Hashimoto’s in the most natural way possible. I will continue to write and share about my journey, in the hopes that it helps someone out there who is struggling with the same thing.

Most sanitizers out there contain triclosan, which is an antibacterial agent that actually DOES NOT have the ability to ward off viruses. It is suspected to be a carcinogen, and kills off both good and bad bacteria from the skin, meaning it can weaken the immune system. It is also lipophillic, so it can accumulate in your body’s fat cells over time and has been found in breast milk, blood and urine samples. Tricolosan is a major endocrine disruptor, and has been linked to various hormone-related issues and toxicity. Definitely not something we want to be exposing ourselves to.
